We provided technical support to Southern California Edison for end-use metering of commercial buildings in Edison’s service area. The program focused on collecting end use load data from five major types of commercial buildings: offices, retail stores, grocery stores, restaurants (both sit-down and fast food), and warehouses. The average electricity demands for the metered buildings ranged between 20 and 450 kW. The end uses metered varied among building types but generally included HVAC and lighting. Other end uses metered, depending on building type, included refrigeration, plug loads, and cooking. We recruited the buildings for the program, prepared the metering installation plans, verified meter installation, and validated the end-use data collected.
